Dear Linguistics Enthusiasts,
I hope this message finds you well.
We at the Integrated Laboratory for Academic and Scientific Literacy (LILA) would like to share the attached flyer, which provides information about ROCAS – Academic Discussion Circles, now in its ninth edition.
In the attached files, you will find information on eight editions of ROCAS, totaling 33 meetings/webcasts, featuring the participation of national and international researchers in the field of linguistic studies, as well as professionals working with writing and reading practices focused on academic literacy.
We are also sending an additional file with suggestions for possible adaptations of this content for classroom activities, particularly geared toward teacher training, as well as for professional development.
In addition, we are sharing another attached flyer with information about the Colmeia Linguística (Linguistic Hive) Podcast (Spotify, YouTube), with the aim of promoting scientific dissemination in the field of Linguistics. The project was created based on episode scripts that also served as a foundation for high school students’ productions, within the context of educational proposals. Currently, the podcast has 24 episodes and has already addressed topics related to language teaching, literature, literacy, linguistic prejudice, indigenous culture, inclusion, and the relationships between language, music, and digital technologies.
We are available to answer any questions you may have. We would also like to share the link to the book published by LILA, titled Genders in Academic, Scientific, and Professional Education Across Different Disciplinary Cultures: A Focus on Rubrics, available as an e-book on the Pedro & João Editores website. The book compiles reflections and practices developed by LILA.
Additionally, we would like to recommend the book Academic-Scientific Literacies in Different Disciplinary Cultures, which addresses the comprehension and production of university students’ texts, as well as the specificities of these practices across different disciplinary cultures (Hyland, 2004). This topic has been established for years as an object of study among researchers in Applied Linguistics (AL). The book is available as an e-book on the Syntagma Publishers website.
Sincerely,
